There are lots of different ways to swap postcards. Some people prefer bulk swaps of 'mint' condition (unwritten and unstamped) postcards sent in envelopes, while others like the single postcard trades.

Some swappers find it more authentic to swap postcards stamped and mailed like a regular postcard, perhaps with a written message on the back explaining the view on the card. Different swappers are also particular about what type of views they like, such as only swapping sunsets or pictures of cartoon characters. Postcard collectors might also prefer only certain types of postcards, such as only single (as oppose to multi) views, or only certain sizes and shapes.
